BIOBANK
A biobank is a type of biorepository that stores biological samples (usually human) for use in research. Since the late 1990s, biobanks have become important resource in medical research, supporting many types of contemporary research such as genomics and personalized medicine.
In School of Medical Sciences, our aim is to set up and develop a biobank focusing on cell lines to support research in this field. The biobank provides cell lines to researchers as well as preserving cells obtained from depositors for future research.
This unit has become an epitome for cell culture research in our school, and we are expanding our services to other Schools, USM and even up to the national scale.

Tissue Engineering & Integrated Reconstructive Science Laboratory (INTEREST) originally was develop to cater the reconstructive research. However, many research from other fields have been conducted here as INTEREST has widen its functions. Equipped with tissue and cell culture facilities, INTEREST is an indication of commitment of the centre to embark on intense research activity and broader collaboration to achieve the quality and sustainability.
In 2017, CRL has obtained the right to manage INTEREST and now ready to host various of research activities under its roof.
